Fix Wi-Fi Drops and Slow Internet on Samsung Galaxy for US Users
Experiencing Wi-Fi drops or slow browsing on your Samsung Galaxy in the United States? Follow these targeted fixes to stabilize connectivity and improve speeds.
Step 1: Reboot Router and Phone
Power cycle your router and restart your Galaxy. This clears temporary network issues and often restores stable connections quickly.
Step 2: Forget and Rejoin the Network
In Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi, tap the network, choose Forget, then reconnect with the correct password to refresh the handshake and IP settings.
Step 3: Switch Wi-Fi Frequency Band
Use 5GHz where available for higher speeds and less interference; if range is poor, switch to 2.4GHz. Adjust this in your router’s settings or use separate SSIDs per band.
Step 4: Disable Battery Saver for Wi-Fi
Battery optimization can limit background Wi-Fi activity. Under Settings > Battery and Device Care, turn off aggressive optimization for key apps and Wi-Fi services.
Step 5: Update Router Firmware and Phone Software
Make sure both your router and Galaxy have the latest firmware. Router updates often fix stability issues that cause periodic drops.

OnePlus Tip
If Wi-Fi issues persist, try a custom DNS (like Quad9 or Cloudflare) in your router or phone to bypass ISP DNS slowdowns and improve resolution times.
