Disable Unnecessary Notifications on Samsung Galaxy
Tired of constant pop-ups and alerts? You can easily disable unnecessary notifications on your Samsung Galaxy to keep your phone distraction-free. Whether it’s system messages, promotional app alerts, or background notifications, this guide shows how to manage them efficiently on any Galaxy device in the United States and Canada.
Step 1: Open Notification Settings
Go to Settings > Notifications. Here you’ll find all the apps and system services that send alerts. You can view recent notifications or switch to All Apps for complete control.
Step 2: Turn Off App Notifications
Select any app you find noisy and toggle off Allow Notifications. For finer control, tap into each app and disable options like Promotional Notifications or Marketing Alerts.
Step 3: Manage Categories Within Apps
Some apps — like Messages or Instagram — let you control notification categories individually. For example, you can silence likes or comments while keeping direct messages enabled. Tap the app’s name under Settings > Notifications to access these options.
Step 4: Use Do Not Disturb Mode
Enable Do Not Disturb from Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb or via the Quick Panel. This feature lets you block all notifications during meetings, sleep, or focus sessions. You can allow exceptions for calls from specific contacts.
Step 5: Disable System and App Suggestions
Navigate to Settings > Advanced Features > Smart Suggestions and disable suggestions for apps or reminders that you don’t use. This reduces clutter from non-essential system prompts.
Step 6: Optimize Notification Behavior
Frequent notifications can also drain your battery. Learn how to balance app alerts with power management in Battery & Power Management.
Step 7: Review Notification History and Apps
To check what’s been sending alerts, go to Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings > Notification History. If certain apps constantly reappear, consider disabling or uninstalling them. For more tips on app and alert control, visit Notifications & Apps.
